Family Support Sessions
Support for understanding and working together as a family
These sessions focus on how things are working within your family, particularly where there are differences in communication, understanding, or expectations. The aim is to create space to talk things through together and develop a shared understanding of what may be helpful.
They can be used at any point — whether you are early in exploring concerns, following a diagnosis, or managing ongoing challenges.

Every family’s situation is different. Sessions are shaped around what feels most important to explore together — whether that’s improving communication, working through specific challenges, or developing a shared understanding of what is going on.
Family Support can be used at any stage. Some families access this early on, others alongside assessment or after a diagnosis, and some return at key points when new challenges arise.

A family we supported
Online
For some families, a single session can be helpful in creating clarity and improving communication. Others may choose to return at different points as new situations emerge.
The situation
The family sought support as they were finding it difficult to work things through together at home. There were differences in how each family member understood the situation, and communication was becoming increasingly strained.
Our work together
The session focused on creating space for the family to talk things through together, with support to understand each other’s perspectives more clearly. This included exploring how the child was experiencing different situations, alongside how parents were interpreting and responding to these. Attention was given to patterns of communication within the family and how these could be adjusted to feel more manageable for everyone.
The outcome
Following the session, the family reported a clearer shared understanding of what was contributing to different challenges and how they might approach these together. This supported more productive conversations at home and helped the family feel more confident in responding to situations as they arose.
