Autism and ADHD assessments in Birmingham, Solihull, Sandwell and Dudley
We assess children aged 4 to 18 and adults from across Birmingham and the surrounding boroughs, in person at clinical venues in Edgbaston (B15) and the Jewellery Quarter (B1), or online. The clinical team, the assessment and the report are the same whichever you choose. Families from Solihull, Sandwell and Dudley usually choose one of the two Birmingham venues, our Walsall venue (WS4), or an online assessment.
Where you would be seen
Our Birmingham assessments take place in professional clinical rooms that we book for each appointment, chosen to be calm and quiet. Both venues have parking and are well connected by train and bus. Your exact venue is confirmed after booking, along with directions, parking and accessibility information.
- Birmingham, Edgbaston (B15)
- Birmingham, Jewellery Quarter (B1)
- Walsall, Town Centre (WS4), often convenient for families in the north of the Black Country
- Solihull (B91), opening soon
If travelling is difficult, or a busy room would make the day harder, an online assessment follows the same process with the same clinicians.
What the assessment involves
Our assessments are informed by the NICE guidelines and carried out by a multidisciplinary team of HCPC-registered clinicians. Every case is reviewed at a clinical panel chaired by a Clinical Psychologist. You receive a full written report with recommendations within three weeks of the final session, and a feedback appointment to go through it together. For children, we gather information from school as well as from home. What happens in a child assessment · What happens in an adult assessment
Using a report with schools and the council
Families in Birmingham, Solihull, Sandwell and Dudley often ask how a private report fits with school support and Education, Health and Care needs assessments. Each council runs its own SEND service and publishes a Local Offer listing the support available locally. Schools and councils consider private reports alongside their own information, and arrangements vary between areas, so it can help to share the report with your school's SENCO first. Our guide to whether a private diagnosis is accepted explains how reports are used and what tends to matter most.
